Frequently Asked Questions

How are Professional Eyelash Extensions Applied?

A stylist utilizes a unique bonding agent which seamlessly fuses each natural lash with silk or synthetic lashes. Basically, you relax, close your eyes and let the eyelash expert do all the work. Classic lash extension application usually requires about two hours, while volume lash application is a more advanced process which takes more time. Touch-up (fill) appointments require less time, since you should still have about half of your extensions remaining when you come in for a touch-up appointment to maintain the fullness and volume of your eyelash extensions.

How Long Do Your Eyelash Extensions Last?

If you take care of your new luscious lashes, they can stay on for 6 to 8 weeks. They can be worn in the shower, swimming pool, as well as during sleep. Just remember, the less you do to your lashes the longer they last. Be gentle with them! See our "Aftercare" page for specific aftercare instructions.

How Much Time Does it take to get Eyelash Extensions?

Since we are not at all interested in doing a rush job, our individual eyelash extension product is custom applied and takes between 90 to 120 minutes to complete for the initial classic sets. Volume lash application requires utilizing an advanced technique, which requires more time. The initial volume application requires between 2-4 hours, depending on your natural lashes and how much volume the client prefers. Fill-ins take from 45 to 60 minutes for classic lashes and approximately 90 minutes for volume lashes. The overall result draws attention to your eyes and alters your appearance in an amazing way.

Will They Damage My Natural Lashes?

If the technician is NOT properly trained and qualified, eyelash extensions could possibly damage your lashes–leaving you with ugly “bald spots.” The eyelash extension process is meticulous; your results depend first on the skill of your technician and, secondarily, the product used. There are people who call themselves eyelash extension specialists, but who have not actually obtained professional training, much less are they certified. Even if they are certified, very few “extensionists” do eyelashes more a few times a month. Even if they are certified, frequently they offer a wide array of other beauty services, the demands of which never allow them to truly specialize and become an expert in eyelash extensions. At the Lash Boutique, we specialize in only eyelash extensions to provide you with the best product outcome and quality of lash application. All of our lash artists go through meticulous hands on training (not just a two day course) and must have approved technique and application prior to working on clients. While part of The Lash Boutique team, our lash artists receive continued education and trainings to stay on top of new techniques and stylings. Additionally, we can provide hundreds of photos of our work.

Can My Eyelash Extensions Be Removed?

Yes, they can be removed at any time. Eyelash Technicians carry remover for fast, easy removal. Please never pull on your lashes or attempt to remove them yourself, as you could damage your natural lash.

Classic Lash Extensions vs. Volume Lash Extensions

What are they and what is the difference?

Classic Lash Extensions

When applying classic or a basic set of eyelash extensions, the lash artist applies one extension per natural lash. So you are only able to apply as many extensions as you have natural lashes. There are a lot of factors to consider when applying extensions as well, as there are a variety of different lengths, curls and diameters to choose from to create a variety of different looks. Proper education is important when applying lashes, as to not cause any damage to the natural lashes. Consideration must be taken to apply the correct length and diameter to ensure too much weight is not added to the natural lash. Different curls can make all the difference for proper styling based upon the client's eye shape. Classic lashes are perfect for those wanting to enhance their natural lashes, and most are satisfied with classic sets of lashes. If you don't have a lot of natural lashes, or you have gaps in your lashes, OR, you just prefer that your lashes look extra full and luscious, you may be more interested in volume lashes. Volume Lash Extensions

There’s a new technique taking over the lashing world right now. It is known as Russian Volume. The Russian Volume technique is a pristine method in which you are SAFELY applying anywhere from 2-6 super fine, lightweight extensions per natural lash. Many who have heard about the new volume technique have various questions like is it safe for the natural lashes? Is it too heavy? Will it damage the natural lashes? With the Volume technique you can actually apply more lashes, using less weight. This allows you to create fuller more lush lashes. Especially for those who do not have many natural lashes. Volume lashing is indeed a technique. It is not a type of lash. You are using certain diameters for the volume technique. But it's all about how you apply them. With volume, you are still isolating perfectly one natural lash, but instead of applying one single classic lash, you apply a hand made “fan” or “bouquet” of thinner diameter lashes that are hand-crafted to customize the perfect weight for every single natural lash. As well as using less weight, and being able to customize the lengths, and how much weight goes on to each lash, this technique also allows you to use less glue. Sounds odd right? More lashes, less glue? But with the technique, you are taught to wrap the adhesive around the natural lash. Volume lashes tend to last longer, therefore clients can go longer between fill-in appointments. See photos below for a side by side comparison!
